Mick Ready with a Corroboree Billabong barra, caught with Obsession Fishing Safaris - there are loads of small barra around the Top End this year

Corroboree Billabong is a famous waterhole on the NT’s Mary River. It is both beautiful and a prolific barramundi fishing spot.

Every year the fishing is different, depending on the wet season. This year there wasn’t a big flush of rain, and saratoga and tarpon have been the main catch around the lilies.

There are plenty of smaller barra about, such as this one, caught by Mick Ready, fishing with champion fisho Justin Jones of Obsession Fishing Safaris.

The bigger barra will hopefully fire later in the year as the weather warms.

Other famous waterholes such as the 2-Mile and 4-Mile Holes on the Wildman RIver, have produced much the same fishing.

Corroboree Billabong is a great destination to fish weedless surface lures and flies. Nearby Hardies Lagoon and the Rockhole are also excellent spots.
