Daly River barramundi fishing

North Australian Fishing and Outdoors Magazine

North Australian Fishing and Outdoors Magazine

Even though the Daly River did not fish as well this year because of a poor wet season, there were some big barramundi caught.
And perhaps none bigger than Shane Compain’s fish, as featured on the front of the the August edition of North Australian Fishing and Outdoors Magazine.
Shane’s fish, and other big barra, were caught just outside the timeframe of two big Daly fishing competitions, the Barra Classic and the Barra Nationals.
Results at these two comps were very poor.
Why were the big fish caught outside the comps? We can only speculate, although it is partly because of the tides that the comp organisers choose.
The whole issue is discussed in the latest issue of North Australian Fishing and Outdoors Magazine. For more info on this great edition, have a look here.

The pristine Daly River ... the Liberals plan to dam it

We don’t like putting politics on this page, but Tony Abbott’s Liberal Party has plans to dam the NT’s superb Daly River. This is likely to influence the vote of fishermen at the September 7 federal election.
